Two MNAs offloaded from flight at Bacha Khan Airport

PESHAWAR: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Friday offloaded two members of National Assembly, belonging to the tribal areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, from a flight at Bacha Khan International Airport, ARY News reported. According to ARY News reporter, FIA offloaded the two legislators Mohsin Dawar and  Ali Wazir from a Bahrain-bound international flight at the Bacha Khan airport when they were trying to flee abroad.    Sources said that the two legislators were stopped at the airport as their names were placed on the exit control list. According to unconfirmed report the two MNAs were taken into custody for investigations. Chief Justice Saqib Nisar on Friday warned that the apex court will take action against the media houses that have still not paid salaries to their employees, if they did not clear all dues soon. While hearing a request filed by Tayyab Baloch, the president of Press Association of Supreme Court, Justice Nisar said the court will take action against media houses — that have not paid their employees — under the Revenue Recovery Act and suggested the companies' lawyers to read it. Pervez Shaukat, who was representing media employees along with Baloch, told the court that the media workers did not have money to pay their children's school fee because they had not received their salaries. He claimed that the media houses had received billions to speak against the judiciary. MNAs Mohsin Dawar, Ali Wazir offloaded from Dubai-bound flight at Peshawar airport

The Members of National Assembly (MNA) from North Waziristan, Mohsin Dawar and Ali Wazir , were offloaded from a Dubai-bound flight on Peshawar airport by security officials on Friday, DawnNewsTV reported. Dawar told DawnNewsTV that they were travelling to Dubai to participate in a Pakhtun cultural event, but were offloaded from the aircraft of a private airline before departure by the Federal Investigations Agency (FIA) officials. “Security officials informed us that we are wanted in a case registered in Swabi and our names are on the Exit Control List,” the Waziristan lawmaker said. Both the lawmakers have been detained by the FIA, and the agency will handover their custody to Swabi police. Govt inks MoU with Swiss authorities to ‘bring back looted money’

ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Swiss authorities to obtain information about assets and bank accounts owned by Pakistanis in Switzerland. KARACHI: Parents of a 12-year-old student are moving from pillar to post to get “justice” for their child who they claim was brutally tortured by one of his teachers at a private school, ARY News reported. SHC orders Karachi authorities to end 'illegal' commercial use of residential areas

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday ordered the Karachi authorities to take joint action against the commercial use of land meant for residential properties in the metropolis. Headed by Justice Irfan Saadat Khan, a two-member bench while hearing a petition against the commercial use of residential areas, ordered the mayor of Karachi, the project director of the Lines Area Development Authority, the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) and others to present a report within 15 days after taking action on court directives. During the hearing today, the SBCA lawyer informed the court that ending encroachments did not come within the authority's jurisdiction, to which Justice Khan responded by saying that "these aren't encroachments ... these are illegal constructions". ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday directed centre and provinces to submit monthly progress report against the usage of narcotics in educational institutes. According to the details, a three-member bench of the SC headed by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar, while hearing a case pertaining to drug peddling in educational institutes,  ordered the provinces to submit monthly report on drugs in academies. Supreme Court hears case about delay in Nai Gaj dam construction

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday adjourned hearing about construction of Nai Gaj dam in Dadu district of Sindh till Monday, ARY News reported. A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar heard the case regarding lack of funding in the construction of the dam project, which has delayed the completion of the project. The top court had accepted a petition for hearing regarding the construction of Nai Gaj dam in September this year. US dollar hits all-time high at Rs144 intraday in interbank market

Sudden devaluation of local currency against the US dollar was witnessed in interbank trading on Friday morning as the greenback hit an all-time high of Rs144 during intraday trading. Sources told DawnNewsTV that the sudden rise of Rs10 in the value of the US dollar is based on the government's commitments to the International Monitory Fund (IMF). The US dollar, which was being traded at Rs134 yesterday, opened higher at Rs142 on Friday while the local currency further devalued by Rs2 to Rs144 before setting to Rs140 at midday. ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Friday submitted a new report to the Supreme Court, containing details of Pakistanis who have their assets stashed abroad, ARY News reported. According to the list prepared by the FIA, as many as 1,115 Pakistanis have their properties in the United Arab Emirates. Of them, 338 belong to Punjab and 639 from Sindh, 115 from Islamabad, 18 from Khyber Pakhtonkhwa and five from Balochistan. The report states that out of total 1,115 people, 417 of them have availed tax amnesty scheme. Province-wise breakdown shows that 117 of the amnesty scheme seekers belong to Punjab, 267 from Sindh and 29 from Islamabad. Similarly, 162 people declared their assets during the FIA probe, the report says. Of them, 72 were from Sindh, 70 from Punjab, 14 from Islamabad, four from KP and two from Balochistan. Lowest voter turnout in IoK polls indicates people’s frustration: FO

Today marks the Last day for filing annual income tax returns: FBR

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) time limit will end today (Friday) for people to file their income tax returns and wealth statements. According to details, FBR had extended the deadline in September for filing of  annual income tax returns and wealth statements till November 30. But as of now, more extension in deadline will not be approved. FBR extends date for filing tax returns The sources stated, “The names of the people will be visible straight away in the active tax payer list without any delay who have filed their income tax. Also, filers will not be prohibited from acquiring immovable property no matter whatever its worth is.” However, as compared to non-filers, filers will have to pay half the withholding tax and non-filers will have to pay 1.5-2 times more withholding tax. The sources added, “Non-filers will not be permitted to procure property cost over Rs 5 million. Also, non-filers will have to pay more as compared to filers on different payments.”

Israel bombs targets in Syria, near Damascus: monitor
