LAHORE: Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar has inaugurated Abdul Hakeem section of Lahore-Multan Motorway (M-3), ARY News reported on Sunday.
The newly-constructed motorway section is 230 kilometres long, which connects M-3 road network to Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh and Khanewal.
Eight interchanges and three service areas were also constructed at the section.
While addressing the inauguration ceremony, Governor Sarwar said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership will meet expectations of the nationals.
He said that PTI leaders produced themselves for accountability before the nation. He added that unemployment was common in the country due to corruption which deprived people of food and shelter.

Sarwar said that the root cause of the miseries being faced by Pakistanis is corruption and the present government will not tolerate this menace. He said that all segments of the society will have to make joint efforts for the development and stability of the country.
The governor pledged that the Punjab authorities will ensure the provision of safe drinking water to its citizens.
Commenting over escalation between Pakistan and India, Sarwar clarified that Prime Minister Imran Khan has never accepted any pressure and nor will be. He added that Pakistan did not come under pressure from India and isolated [Indian PM] Narendra Modi from the world. Islamabad has exposed Modi’s tricks to win Indian elections through the imposition of war, he said.

The Lahore-Abdul Hakim Motorway – an important section of Karachi-Peshawar Motorway – will not only speed up trade activities but will also reduce traveling distance between many cities, especially Lahore and Multan besides reducing journey cost.
Lahore-Abdul Hakim Motorway (M-3) section is 230km long and its total construction cost is said to be Rs 148.653 billion. This motorway passes through Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Faisalabad, Toba Tek singh and Khanwal districts while it will facilitate people of Lahore, Sheikhpura, Mangtanwala, Nankana Sahib, Bucheki, Jaranwala, Syed Wala, Tandlianwala, Sitiana, Sammundri, Mamonkanjan, Mureedwala Toba Tek Singh, Rajana, Kamalia, Pir Mehal, Shorkot and Kot Islam.
Lahore-Abdul Hakim Motorway has four lanes and its one lane is 3.65 meter wide.
It has eight interchanges, three service areas, eight bridges, three railway crossing bridges, 34 small canals/distributaries, 60 underpasses, 201 cattle creeps and 701 culverts.
The intelligent transport system has also been installed on Lahore-Abdul Hakim Motorway which has converted it into a model motorway. This system will also help to regulate and control vehicular traffic easily.
