ISLAMABAD: An accountability court hearing fake bank accounts case against former president Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur on Thursday adjourned the proceedings till June 14, ARY News reported.

The hearing was adjourned due to leave of AC Judge Arshad Malik, who is currently in Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.

The brother and sister duo appeared before the court under the foolproof security measures taken by the Islamabad’s administration.

The duty judge Muhammad Bashir after marking the attendance of the accused, later adjourned the hearing till June 14.

On Wednesday, co-chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari had excused himself from appearing before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) by stating his busy schedule, in the fake accounts case.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had summoned Zardari to appear before Combined Investigation Team (CIT) of the bureau for questioning in the fake bank accounts case.

Previously, Zardari was summoned by NAB on May 23 but he didn’t appear on the pretext of busy schedule. He wrote a letter to the bureau, stating that he could not appear owing to his busy schedule.

The bureau has already filed references in cases related to money laundering through fake bank accounts, Pink Residency and illegal award of water supply schemes.
