QUETTA: Balochistan High Court (BHC) has appointed Tahira Safdar as its chief justice; it is first ever appointment of a female on the post of any high court’s chief justice in Pakistan.
According to details, Justice Tahira Safdar will swear in for the top post on Saturday.
The decision to appoint Ms. Tahira was taken by the chief justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar.
Ms Tahira will be succeeding Muhammad Noor Musjabzai who has been retired from the post of chief justice of Balochistan Hight Court on Friday (today).
Ms. Tahira was born in Quetta in 1957.
She achieved her degree in law from Quetta Law College in the year 1980. She was appointed as first female civil judge in 1982.
