President inaugurates Karachi to Dhabeji shuttle train service

KARACHI: President Dr Arif Alvi on Wednesday (today) inaugurated Dhabeji Express, on route between Karachi’s City Station and Dhabeji in Thatta district.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, President Arif Alvi lauded the performance of the Minister for Railways, Sheikh Rashid and congratulated him over yet another addition of train service in family of Pakistan Railways.

“Transport is major problem of Karachi, this shuttle train service will help to ease it a bit”, contended the President, adding that incompetency in past ruined the Railway department.

Addressing the ceremony, Sheikh Rashid said government is striving hard to serve masses despite having limited resources.

Dhabeji Express is a gift from Prime Minister for the people of Karachi,” said the minister for railways, adding, the fare of shuttle train service will vary between Rs 40 to 80, he added.

” More trains to be inaugurated in the metropolis after return from the scheduled visit of China.” maintained Rashid, adding that Prime Minister to inaugurate shuttle train service run between Karachi to Hyderabad.

Addressing a press conference yesterday, the minister announced that the citizens will travel by the new train for free on 1st of November.

He said the federal government is ready to provide all required facilities for revival of Karachi Circular Railway project. Five more trains will be launched in Sindh in the first 100 days of the present government, he added.

He said the government plans to launch the Rehman Baba Expresses from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Karachi for the poor. The train will operate on the main ML-1 line as Khushhal Khan Express is not in a good condition and the department always remains concerned about it.

This is the launch of sixth train within merely 60 days of the new government. The government is committed to fulfill the promise of bringing 10 new trains in its 100 days.

In the next phase, the Federal Minister vowed to introduce a shuttle train service between Karachi and Hyderabad.

Rouhani calls Imran, discusses resumption of trade

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Iran on Wednesday discussed full resumption of bilateral trade, which was halted last month because of the Covid-19 pandemic. “The two sides stressed the need to reactivate borders and border markets and strengthen trade ties by following health guidelines,” a statement issued by the Iranian presidency on the telephonic conversation between Prime Minister Imran Khan and President Dr Hassan Rouhani said.
