Shehbaz challenges his name on ECL in LHC

LAHORE: Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has challenged placing his name in the Exit Control List (ECL) in the Lahore High Court (LHC), ARY News reported on Thursday.

Shehbaz in his plea has named interior ministry, NAB chairman and other concerned authorities as responded.

“NAB failed to prove charges of financial irregularities in Ramzan Sugar Mills and Ashiana Housing scam,” Sharif stated in his plea.

He further added that the court granted me bail after provision of evidence of his innocence, he continued.

Shehbaz has pleaded the court to order exclusion of his name from the ECL.

Shehbaz’s name was put on ECL, following the approval of the federal cabinet on the recommendations of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

Former Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif currently facing two corruption references filed by the National Accountability Bureau.

In Ramzan Sugar Mills reference, he has been accused by the NAB for misusing his authority as Punjab chief minister to benefit factories owned by his sons that cost rs 200 mn to the national exchequer.

In Ashiana Iqbal Housing Scheme, he is also facing charges of misusing his authority to illegally issue directives for cancellation of contract with regard to the housing project in 2014, causing Rs 715 mln loss to the exchequer.

Peshawar security forces kill four suspected terrorists

The Peshawar Counter-Terrorism Department personnel gunned down four suspected terrorists after raiding their hideout on the Kohat Road Monday. According to the security forces, the suspects were plotting an attack. A cache of weapons and ammunition has been seized too. Headlines 9am: Karachi to face power outages, coronavirus cases rise

Here are the headlines from SAMAA TV’s 9am bulletin. Pakistan has begun reporting fewer coronavirus infections in the last couple of days.
