ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has approved a corruption reference against former Sindh minister Abdul Rauf Siddiqui over alleged misuse of authority and making illegal appointments.
The corruption watchdog’s executive board gave the go-ahead to the filing of a reference against Siddiqui upon completion of investigation against him.
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement – Pakistan (MQM-P) leader has been accused of making 372 illegal appointments and causing a loss of Rs420 million to the national kitty.

The bureau’s executive board also approved 12 corruption inquiries against a former president of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), Saeed Ahmed and officials of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra), Wapda, Port Qasim Authority, Sahiwal Coal Power Company.
Inquiries against officials of Punjab and Sindh police, University of Swabi, Civil Aviation Authority and Bacha Khan Airport, Peshawar were also approved.
